Five weeks after springing a 50-1 shock at Doncaster, Double Shuffle (Milan) proved that victory to be no fluke and defied a penalty to take a warm Nebury novice hurdle. Given a tactically astute ride by Paddy Brennan, Double Shuffle led throughout and when challenged by even money favourite, Remiluc (Mister Sacha), found another gear to win by an eased down six lengths.
Double Shuffle was purchased, on behalf of The Crossed Fingers Partnership, at the Brightwells May Sale 2014 for £50,000. Trainer Tom George reported afterwards that the exciting five year old will be rested before being sent novice chasing next Autumn.
After the recent near misses of God's Own (Oscar) in the the Racing Post Arkle, and Dexcite (Authorized) in a valuable Newbury Juvenille Hurdle, The Crossed Fingers Partnership needed a slight change of fortune and Double Shuffle (Milan) did not disappoint.
